Your Measurement

Select both feet and inches. Example: 8 ft 6 in equals 102 total inches.

How To Measure A Standing Broad Jump

1. Mark The Start Line

Stand behind a clearly marked line, then jump forward from a stationary two-foot takeoff. Measure from the start line to the back of the heel closest to the start line.

2. Record The Landing

Measure the full distance of the jump to the nearest inch. Keep the testing surface flat and repeat the test for consistent comparisons.

About The Calculation

Total inches = feet × 12 + inches.

Centimeters = total inches × 2.54.

Example: 8 ft 6 in = 102 inches = 259.1 centimeters.

Tips For A Better Broad Jump

Use A Flat Surface

A level floor or field helps you keep each test fair and repeatable.

Land Balanced

Stick the landing with control so your measurement stays accurate.

Test More Than Once

Taking multiple attempts gives you a better sense of your true explosiveness.

Track Your Progress

Use the broad jump as a simple lower-body power benchmark over time.
