Baseball Calculator

Exit Velocity Calculator

Estimate baseball exit velocity from bat speed and contact quality. Use it to compare swing efficiency, ball-strike quality, and hitting power.

Your Measurement

mph

Enter your bat speed in miles per hour. Decimals are allowed.

Choose how cleanly the bat meets the ball.

How Exit Velocity Works

1. What Is Exit Velocity?

Exit velocity is the speed of the ball as it leaves the bat. It is a simple way to compare how well a hitter is driving the ball during practice or games.

2. Measure Bat Speed And Contact Quality

Bat speed can be measured with a radar device or training sensor. Contact quality is your estimate of how cleanly the bat met the ball at impact.

About The Calculation

Estimated Exit Velocity = Bat Speed × Contact Multiplier.

Perfect contact = 1.25, Solid contact = 1.15, Average contact = 1.05, Weak contact = 0.90.

Example: 80 mph bat speed with solid contact = 92.0 mph exit velocity.

Tips To Improve Exit Velocity

Stay On Plane

Matching the pitch plane helps you create better contact and better ball speed.

Focus On Barrel Control

Consistent barrel contact usually leads to more efficient exit velocity results.

Train Bat Speed

Better sequencing and swing mechanics can help raise bat speed over time.

Measure The Same Way

Use the same device and testing setup so your exit velocity comparisons stay consistent.
